LOL guess he isn’t doing “Down the road” after goofing up in Fargo!
What happened during “Down the Road” in Fargo? Please explain.
I’m sorry I am a huge Kenny fan, but that was ridiculous. He is a terriffic entertainer and songwriter, but the dude did not even play for 2 hour on at 9:10 off at 10:45. People wait all year for his shows and travel great distances. My tix cost a 120 bucks a pop and in this economy that is a big deal. Severely disapointed.
Just saw the Philly show. Took my 14 and 10 year old sons (3rd show for both boys). Also took my girl who saw him for the first time. When we met 16 months ago, she didn’t know who Kenny Chesney was or wouldn’t have been caught dead listening to country music. But over the last year I was able to open her mind and opinion to some great music. I have been a Chesney fan since 06 when I was turned onto the “Be As You Are” CD which has some of the best music of its genre I have ever heard. I am 43 and as a musician myself, have learned to appreciate ALL types of music, especially singer/songwriters. I am a HUGE Springsteen fan, who for those of you know Bruce’s music, know exactly what I’m talking about brilliant singer/songwriters. I saw a video on you tube a few years ago interviewing Kenny describing how much of a Springsteen fan he was and how he (Chesney) wanted to be the “Bruce Springsteen” of country music’s live performers. I thought that was a genuine and attainable goal. Chesney definetly has the potential to do that. I have seen him perform live now three consecuetive years, and unfortunately have lost my belief in that. He has such a great library of music but for some reason, is stuck on playing the same 20-25 songs year after year. Even with creatively written and produced new music which he, for some reason, refuses to play live. Don’t get me wrong, Chesney IS an awesome live performer. But he would be SO MUCH BETTER if he would just “mix up” the setlist and expand deeper into his song selections. Perhaps he should take a tip from the Boss and collect request signs as Bruce has done over the last couple tours. I think he (Chesney) and the band would be more entertaining, keep it fresh for themselves performance wise, and inspire the crowd even more! I’m sure I’m not the only fan with this opinion, but I just wanted to voice it and maybe would ultimately get to “Chesney’s” people. I will continue to attend his shows, support his new music, and turn as many new fans onto his tunes as possible. JAM ON KENNY and GOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!!!
Ok, I’m reading some of the comments and getting a little worried. I paid $850 a piece for two tickets for Gillette Stadium in Aug. I hope he has a 20 song play list…your right people wait all year long and expect a show. This will by my 6th time seeing him, been a fan since the 90’s and I hope, hope, hope, I get my money’s worth…ahhhh…Thanks for sharing so I can be prepared.
Andrea, let me tell you that you will not be disappointed at Gillette. He puts on an amazing show and loves his Boston fans. I just saw him in NY and it was nothing like the Gillette show. I’ve seen him 4 times there and he never disappoints. He just keeps playing. Hope you have good seats for the money you paid. See you there!
I do not feel the same way some of these people do. I drove to Dallas, from Norman, Oklahoma 3 hours, on May 2nd to get drenched and loved it. Then I drove down May 11th during finals (I am a college student)in the poring rain to pick up tickets to a show that Kenny rescheduled because he could only play 5 songs on May 2 due to rain. Then drove down on May 17 to see the show that Kenny paid out of his own pocket $300,000+ to put on. He played for 3 hours and was amazing. He is a great performer and his songs are stories that people live everyday. Enjoy him while he lasts because he can’t tour like this forever.
Does anyone know HOW Kenny decides to play different Encores/Covers at the end of his setlist? I’ve seen various versions posted, but was curious how he decides what to play. Does he go by the crowd’s energy? Is it pre-determined? I thought for sure at Philly he would play some, since the concert was less than 2 hours and the crowd was rocking…
I have seen Kenny perform many times in different places and I can’t put my finger on it but I don’t think he gives it his all in Philly. He looks tired to me and has a “matter of fact” look about him – like he doesn’t really like it there. Maybe it’s just me but I can’t say his show was “fantastic” in Philly.
Philly was amazing!!! i seen him 2 nights befor at jones beach and both shows were amazing!! im also going to bryant park for good day america, syscuce state fair and also to hard rock in sept!!!!! that will be 5 times!! and if if can get ticks to his last show of the year i will!!!!!!
I have seen him 6 years in a row and by far this has been the most disappointing. I saw him in Philly last week 6/27/09. The opening acts were great! The entrance was great but the set list wasn’t as good as it has been in past. He usually plays a lot more of his older stuff. He still puts on a great show no matter what, he has so much energy. Hope he makes up for it next year!
I have seen kenny 7 times now and i have to say that over the past few years i have seen him in philly the show has become weaker and shorter…. i have also seen him in New England where he puts on a great show no matter what so im not sure what gives…. the energy is the same at both places but i think he needs to bring it more next year at philly he was so good 2 years ago but no matter what im a fan for life……
I think Sugarland was much better than Kenny in Philly. He just wasn’t into it as usual.
I have seen 2 of Kenny’s concerts, they were in the Wachovia center when I saw him. Both of the shows were teriffic. I think that doing the stadium shows cuts down on the personal involvement with the fans. When he was doing the smaller venues he was had alot more energy and actually played over his 2 hours. I had a blast that those concerts. But now I dont go because I want to really see him not just a little ant running around on a stage. I want to be able to see him up close. Besides I dont have big bucks to be shelling out to be in the front row (even though I would like to) I have been a fan for 8 years and will always be a fan. But Kenny you sure need to do some smaller venues again.
