Chesney to Perform at Bristol in September

Kenny Chesney will play at “college football’s biggest tailgate party” this September in East Tennessee at Bristol Motor Speedway.

A concert of epic proportion is coming home to the Last Great Colosseum.

As part of the Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol weekend, the ultimate tailgating vehicle, the all-new 2017 Honda Ridgeline truck will help kick-off festivities with the Honda Ridgeline Presents Bristol’s Tailgate Party starring Kenny Chesney. The East Tennessee native, hailed as “The King of the Road” by The Wall Street Journal and the only country artist on Billboard’s “Top 10 Touring Acts of the Past 25 Years”, headlines a three-act concert on Friday night, Sept. 9, 2016.

Rounding out the talent-packed music ticket is The Band Perry, as well as Nashville’s Old Dominion. The tailgate event serves as a blockbuster kickoff to a weekend that will host college football’s biggest game ever, a legendary showdown between the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016.

“My days at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City are where I first learned to love what I do,” said Chesney. “I played a lot of music in the Bristol area during that time – and even made my first album there while still in college.

“I had a lot of dreams then, but never did I dream I would be playing at Bristol Motor Speedway. The idea of that was too big to dream. So to say I’m excited to be coming back to play in an area where this dream started is an understatement! Music and sports have defined my life, and it’s not every day an artist is allowed to combine the two for something as special as this.”

ticket pre-sale begins on Monday, June 6 with tickets for the general public going on sale on Wednesday, June 8. Tickets are available ranging from $39-$225.

Fans can visit www.BristolTailgateParty.com for ticket updates and details on weekend events.

Kenny Chesney will head to New York City in July for the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series.

Some of country music’s biggest stars will take part in Good Morning America‘s 2016 summer concert series. The TV morning show’s annual concerts will, in 2016, feature a plethora of acts from all different genres — but the most exciting part, for country fans at least, is the four country superstars who are in the mix.

After GMA‘s summer concerts begin on May 20 with pop singer Ariana Grande, Brad Paisley will be the first country singer to perform as part of the weekly series, which takes place every Friday during the summer months. Paisley’s performance is scheduled for June 24, with Kenny Chesney (July 8), Keith Urban (August 12) and Jason Aldean (August 26) also slated to appear.

The year 2016 marks GMA‘s summer concerts’ eighth year at Rumsey Playfield in New York City’s Central Park. The event will also feature artists such as Demi Lovato, Pitbull, Sia, Iggy Azalea and more. For further information on tickets, show times and more, visit ABC News.

To celebrate the launch of No Shoes Radio on SiriusXM, Kenny Chesney will play a “No Shoes Down The Shore” show at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey on May 12th.

There are no tickets for the show but fans who have SiriusXM can win access by entering a contest through Thursday, April 28 via www.siriusxm.com. A grand prize winner will be flown to Asbury Park for the show and meet Chesney, too.

“We’ve spent eight years building No Shoes Radio,” said Chesney in a statement. “It’s always been a place where I could share songs I love, musicians I find, things on my computer nobody’s ever heard – and blur the lines between my records and everything from reggae to rock to bluegrass. To partner with SiriusXM as part of their Artist Driven platform of stations means No Shoes Radio will be able to reach even more people who love songs and music the same way I do. That’s awesome.”

The concert will be broadcast on No Shoes Radio, which went live earlier this month.

“We are so excited to work with Kenny on his No Shoes Radio, now exclusively on SiriusXM,” said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer of SiriusXM in a statement. “His massive fan base will love having unprecedented access to Kenny’s favorite music and a variety of things only he has access to. We are also thrilled to be expanding SiriusXM’s unmatched offering of country music to our nation of listeners.”

Chesney Drops by Auburn Lambda Chi Fraternity

Kenny Chesney performed at Jordan Hare Stadium on the campus of Auburn University on Saturday night. It was Chesney’s first stadium show of the year. But before the big show, Chesney dropped by the Lambda Chi fraternity and played a little show:

Chesney, an East Tennessee State University Lambda Chi alumnus, treated the house to a performance of “Keg in the Closet,” a song he wrote about his time in the fraternity. It marked the first time he performed the song in an actual Lambda Chi house.

“You know, some things don’t change,” Chesney said in a Facebook post. “Friday afternoon at a fraternity is still an awesome place to be.”

Chesney didn’t officially accept his invitation until Friday, said Lambda Chi President Graham Davis. The impromptu concert felt “laid-back, almost like a family atmosphere,” Davis said.

The country singer performed two songs, took a quick tour of the house, posed for photos and signed autographs before word spread about his location. He stayed for approximately 20 minutes.

“You hear that song all the time, and you hear Lambda Chi referenced,” Davis said. “To hear him sing it in our kitchen was a really cool experience.”

In addition to his own hits, Chesney’s set list included cover versions of the Kinks’ “You Really Got Me,” Willie Nelson’s “Whiskey River,” John Mellencamp’s “Hurts So Good,” Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Pride and Joy,” George Strait’s “The Fireman” and “Carried Away,” Alabama’s “Dixieland Delight” and the Eagles’ “Take It Easy.”
