Controvery Surrounding Chesney and Woman’s Camera

by Josh | 08.21.2009 | Posted In: Fans, In The News

Some controversy has erupted around the internet over a WCVB Boston story reporting that at last weekend’s show in Boston, MA Kenny Chesney confiscated a fan’s camera. One blog went as far as to call Chesney a “prick”.

Susan Mazar said the singer grabbed it while she was at this weekend’s concert in Foxborough.

Mazar said she was in the front row taking pictures, when the singer grabbed the camera from her.

Mazar said she and other fans were stunned when Chesney took the camera.

“(Chesney) was like a person in front of me and he reached down, grabs the camera, shuts it, goes down the walkway and throws it on the stage,” Mazar said.

Mazar said she did get the camera back, but the memory card, loaded with pictures of her family vacation, was missing.

Mazar told NewsCenter 5 that she was taking still pictures only of the show, not video.

Earlier in the tour Kenny was upset with people videotaping him during shows and it appeared that cameras might be banned altogether but this was not the case. Only videotaping is not allowed.

ChesneyWorld received this tweet after the Gillette show:

“I was there when the girl said kenny took her camera & to KC’s defense, she was videotaping the whole show”

Also, Erin from CountryMusicIsLove.com was interviewed by Electric Barnyard and explained that she was about 10 feet from the whole thing and that it was a video camera, not a still camera. Listen to the interview here.

Kenny Chesney Tailgate Documentary to be Filmed at Gillette

by Josh | 08.13.2009 | Posted In: DVD, Fans, Tour

Friday morning at 8:00 am 100 fans will arrive at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts to take part in the filming of tailgating scenes for an upcoming DVD release, which we assume is the previously mentioned 3D concert movie. At one point in the e-mail to those chosen to participate in the filming it is referred to as “KC3D Opening Title Sequence”.

The filming will take place at the Gillette Stadium parking lot. 60 women and 40 men were chosen and have been instructed to dress up and bring everything they normally would for tailgating. Then in the afternoon 30 fans will be chosen out of the 100 to be extras in a bar scene.

If you are one of the fans participating in this filming, please share the experience with us by leaving a comment or posting on our forum.

Tremendous Reception as No Shoes Radio Launches from Alabama

by Josh | 08.06.2009 | Posted In: Fans, Interviews, No Shoes Radio

The reception for Kenny Chesney’s new internet radio station was so great today that the servers crashed and made No Shoes Radio unavailable for a short time (and may still be experiencing some issues). This message was posted on Kenny’s Facebook page:

Lots of folks are wondering why NoShoesRadio.com isn’t working. We had TOO MANY listeners and you crashed the servers! Hang tight… we’re working on it. Still going LIVE from the show in Orange Beach tonight. Man, it is HOT in Alabama!

At about 12:05 eastern time today No Shoes Radio launched from Orange Beach, Alabama with general manager Jon Anthony and Chesney crew member Mark Tamburino introducing the station. The first song that was played was… you guessed it… “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems”. It was a live version recorded at Margaritaville in Key West. The song medlied into “Key Lime Pie”, followed by “Don’t Happen Twice” and “Somewhere in the Sun”. A short time later Kenny Chesney joined Jon and Mark on the air to talk about NSR.

Anthony and Tambo mentioned that the station will provide exclusive behind the scenes access to the tour, including time spent backstage, on the bus, and on the plane. They also mentioned plans for an iPhone app and possibly a BlackBerry app as well.

Tonight’s show in Orange Beach will be broadcast live. Be sure to tune in at NoShoesRadio.com.

How are you liking the station? Drop us a line in the comments or on our forum.

Chesney Schedules Intimate Seattle Preshow

by Josh | 07.15.2009 | Posted In: Fans, Tickets, Tour

On August 1st Kenny Chesney will bring the Sun City Carnival Tour to Qwest Field in Seattle. But the night before, Chesney will play an intimate one-hour, sandbar-only show:

“Qwest can be a little tricky,” allows the man who was country music’s only representative in Pollstar’s Midyear Tour Rankings Top 10. “We wanna get in there and really blow it up… and I wanna know that we’re able to capture what’s so special about that place, because the ….Seattle…. fans are incredible. So, we figured rather than just coming in and me and the guys doing a soundcheck, we could warm-up with something a little bit more – and start what is normally an all-day experience the night before.”

“We’re always looking for ways to change things up, to give the fans a peak into our world,” Chesney allows. “It just seems like as long as we’re gonna be there, we might as well share it with the people who love our music – and inspire us to rock a little harder, to play a little bit longer. I don’t know if this is crazy, sane or the start of something big, but given how awesome ….Seattle…. has always been for us, it seems like the perfect place to find out!”

As with everything Chesney does, fans should also not be surprised by the presence of hi-def cameras. Having produced three “Roadcase” DVDs, several videos and much of his behind the stage concert footage from captured road images, one never knows where they might end up – though their presence is permission to be used in these mediums.

“Anyone who’s ever been in my house knows, I have pictures everywhere of everyone and everything,” Chesney admits with a shy laugh. “When you close your eyes, you can see all these amazing things that’ve happened, but if you wanna share it with your friends, you need this pictures. All the faces, the places we’ve been… well, I try to not just share it with the people in my life, but the fans who’ve made my life and been such a part of this. Who knows when or how? But I know you can only capture the moment in the moment, so that’s what we’re trying to do…”

Kenny Chesney Is Now On Twitter

by Josh | 06.15.2009 | Posted In: Fans, Personal, Site News

Thousands of people around the world are joining Twitter each day and you can now add Kenny Chesney to the list. The official Chesney Twitter account is twitter.com/kennychesney.

It will mainly be Kenny’s inner circle doing the tweeting as Kenny is a very busy man, but following him on Twitter will give you an inside look into the tour and the man himself. It’s a great tool for celebrities because they can send messages directly to fans and bypass the filter of the media.

You’ve no doubt heard of Twitter by now, but are you not sure what exactly it is? Here’s how it’s described by Wikipedia:

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users’ updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 bytes in length. Updates are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends (delivery to everyone being the default). Users can send and receive updates via the Twitter website, SMS, RSS (receive only), or through applications on their computer and cell phones.

Apps are available for most smartphones, including BlackBerrys (I recommend UberTwitter) and iPhones.

Sign up for Twitter now. It’s free, quick, and easy. Once you are signed up and logged in, simply click here and then click Follow to add Kenny Chesney to your list of friends. No “tweets” have been sent out yet but we’re told that in the near future they will begin sending out updates.
