Listen to “Song For The Saints” Title Track

Kenny Chesney has released the title track for his upcoming album ‘Song for the Saints’:

“Song for the Saints” opens softly, with the strums of an acoustic guitar as Chesney sings, “Long before a boat anchored the harbor / Long before steel drums filled the breeze / God lifted these islands from the ocean / They stood strong for centuries / So it’s fitting that they were named after men with golden halos / ‘Cause angels don’t give in just ’cause a little wind blows …” Chesney owned a home on the island of St. John, which Hurricane Irma left devastated in the late summer and early fall of 2017; he was inspired to write Songs for the Saints after seeing firsthand how residents of the Virgin Islands came to together after Irma and Hurricane Maria.

“There’s so much to say, and so much music on this record. Knowing where to start was hard and easy, because this is the song that really holds everything together,” Chesney says in a press release. “It’s a tribute to those islands and their unstoppable spirit. Even as people were coming off the islands — some just to not tax the limited resources — so many of my friends were digging in, trying to figure out what needed to be done and getting on to the work of clearing debris, creating habitable space for those staying and reminding all of us how Island Strong they all are.”

Chesney Saved 1,000 Dogs’ Lives

Thanks to his Love for Love City foundation, Kenny Chesney’s efforts resulted in 1,000 dogs’ lives being saved:

The recent hurricane season wroght devastation on the British and U.S. Virgin Islands. A successive set of hurricanes, Irma and Maria, led to thousands being evacuated and displaced, and, sadly, thousands of pets were left behind as their families were forced to flee the storms.

Well, if you know anything about Kenny Chesney, you’d know this is something he would not stand for.

And he didn’t.

Thanks to his foundation, Love for Love City, over 1,000 lives were saved, as animals were rescued, treated, and rehabilated, and are now available for adoption at Big Dog Ranch Rescue. And Kenny didn’t just lend his fame to the cause, or put his face on a human-interest story for the exposure; he actually paid for the planes and the boats to transport the animals to the mainland.

Says Lauree Simmons, Founder and President of Big Dog Ranch Rescue, “We are just so appreciative that he jumped in to help us, because without Love for Love City and Kenny Chesney…we wouldn’t of been able to save these innocent lives.”

Chesney Helps 100 Dogs Find New Homes after Hurricanes

Kenny Chesney is helping dozens of dogs find new homes after hurricanes ravaged the Virgin Islands:

It was a very Floridian welcome when dozens of soon-to-be adopted dogs arrived Thursday evening to Palm Beach International airport from the U.S. Virgin Islands. Rain showers poured around 5:45 p.m., soaking volunteers and the media as they welcomed the lovey bunch.

But a little rain is nothing to these animals. They survived two major hurricanes, Irma and Maria, this year.

This was the first group of a total of 100 dogs that were rescued by Big Dog Ranch Rescue (BDRR) along with Victory Air, country music star Kenny Chesney’s “Love for Love City,” whose home in the St. Johns was destroyed this hurricane season.

These dogs were homeless, abandoned or stranded on the islands after the two hurricanes wiped out most of the infrastructures. Most human families were evacuated and could only bring themselves, leaving their pets behind.

“Our pets are like our family and right now our family is hurting, said Laureen Simmmons, founder and President of Big Dog Ranch Rescue. “It’s a struggle for people to survive the conditions and nearly impossible for our dogs and cats so we are working with several groups to do the most we can to sustain life during this difficult time.”

The dogs were then to be transported to their designated shelters in Virginia, South Carolina, Orlando and Palm Beach County. They’re looking for forever homes.

He said in the interview that he’s sent his private plane down with water and dog food.

Country singer Kenny Chesney sent a private plane this morning heading for the US Virgin Islands stocked with water bottles and dog food for the 30 people and 10 dogs that rode out the storm in the basement of his home in St. John.

Mr. Chesney, whose brick and stone home with hurricane proof windows was destroyed, commented on the strength of the community in an interview with HLN.

Chesney has started a fundraising campaign called Love for Love City Foundation. He is also planning a concert to raise aid money for the rebuilding process. In the HLN interview he expressed his affection for the community, saying:“Yes, we will rebuild, and we will recover.”
