The Amazing Race is the joint fundraising effort of Brittany & Drew Brees and Camila & Matthew McConaughey. This will be the sixth year that Brittany and Drew’s Brees Dream Foundation has partnered with Camila and Matthew’s just keep livin Foundation to host this charity event in New Orleans. This year’s event will kick off on Saturday morning, April 8th, with a scavenger hunt through the French Quarter and lunch at Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar, followed by the Kenny Chesney concert at the House of Blues at 9:00 that evening. For corporate sponsors and major donors, there will be a VIP dinner and cocktail reception before the concert.
The Amazing Race has raised more than $2,000,000 benefiting the foundations’ joint and individual efforts to help children and families in need. The Brees Dream Foundation was founded in 2003 with the mission to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and provide care, education and opportunities for children and families in need. The just keep livin Foundation is dedicated to empowering high school students by providing them with the tools to lead active lives and make healthy choices for a better future. In 2012, Brittany and Drew partnered with Camila and Matthew McConaughey’s just keep livin Foundation to sponsor three Brees Dream/just keep livin afterschool fitness and wellness programs at inner-city high schools in the New Orleans area. In these programs, students are encouraged to make positive life choices to improve their physical and mental health through exercise, nutrition, community service and gratitude.
Kenny Chesney grew up in east Tennessee, and that portion of the country has been dealing with destructive wildfires in recent days. Kenny recorded a video expressing his support for the victims:
Chesney will also participate in a telethon in Nashville for the victims:
The city of Nashville will take part in a telethon benefiting those affected by the devastating wildfires in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Nashville’s NBC affiliate will host The Smoky Mountain Wildfires Telethon on Friday (Dec. 9) from 3-8PM. The event will include performances and wishes of hope from country stars like Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton and more.
Lve performances from Nashville’s Studio B will also be broadcast, with artists like John Rich, John Oates, Kristian Bush and Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine with his daughter Electra performing. Additionally, nearly 20 other artists are set to make an appearance on the telethon, including Ty Herndon, Bill Worrell, Kara Thompson, Kinsey Rose, Ayla Brown and former The Voice contestant Nolan Neal. Seriously. It’s quite possible that Kenny Chesney’s 2015 The Big Revival Tour has or will save lives.
Participating in the Love Hope Strength Foundation’s Get On The List Campaign, concertgoers at Chesney’s stadium shows could join a mobile drive to register potential bone marrow donors with a simple cheek swab test that, in co-operation with Delete Blood Cancer, gets entered in the national donor bank for potential matches.
A total of 25 potential matches to people fighting life-threatening bone and blood cancers were found.
“When Kate McMahon with our tour promoter explained it to me,” Chesney said. “It seemed not only so simple, but the kind of thing the No Shoes Nation is all about. Give back to others, help where you can, live to the fullest and make a difference. I can’t believe they’ve found 25 matches, but I couldn’t be prouder for the fans who come out and live these songs with us.”
“I learned through the Spread the Love Fund how small things can sometimes make a major difference,” said Chesney. “I know my fans will pitch in, will help people in need. This was something so hard to believe given how easy and simple it is. I’m thrilled to hear 25 matches have already been found. Maybe we should call them the No Shoes, All Heart Nation.”
Back in March it was announced that Kenny Chesney would co-chair the committee to raise funds for a football stadium for East Tennessee State University. Chesney released a statement on the effort:
“I believe there are two things in the world that really pull people together: sports and music,” Chesney said in a statement provided to us by his publicist. “I know how big a part of my life they are. And over the years, the things I’ve learned growing up in East Tennessee have made a huge difference in my life. So to be able to help East Tennessee State raise the funds for a stadium seems like the best way to inspire generations of young people coming up and looking to make their mark on the world – whether they play there, go to games with their friends and make memories or learn how to dream.”
Seven months after announcing the partnership with Chesney the university is well on its way to its fundraising goal. In fact, Carter says ETSU has identified roughly $20 million in funding for the stadium. The university’s goal is $26.6 million.
Carter says no matter the degree of Chesney’s involvement the university is already grateful.
“He’s known the world over and I think his passion for this university is a great asset for us,” Carter said. “Kenny is what I’ve called one of the crown jewels of this university. He’s just got so much credibility and so much talent. He’s an icon and for him to take his time and for him to allow us to utilize his name in support of this effort it tells a lot about what kind of person he is and how much he loves where he’s from. There are members of his camp that are also East Tennessee State University grads and are lifelong friends that have personal investment to see us do well and want us to succeed in everything that we do and that makes it very special.”

If you’ve bought a pair of Kenny Chesney’s Costa Del Mar sunglasses, you’ve helped marine life in the St John River through the Coastal Conservation Association. Kenny recently visited the man-made reefs in Jacksonville, Florida.
The two structures were built in just two weeks in the city’s St. John River using 1,300 tons of concrete. In the 18 months since they were built, Kenny says the reefs are “thriving with life.”
“What they were able to create here says a lot about the ways man can live not just in harmony, but supporting our natural aquatic resources,” Kenny says. “Beyond clean water, it is about supporting healthy marine life… and that includes being aware of the impact of erosion under the water.”
Kenny goes on to thank the University of Jacksonville for its help in making the man-made reefs a reality.
On Saturday night, Kenny Chesney played an acoustic show at the House of Blues in New Orleans to benefit Drew Brees’ Dream Foundation and Matthew McConaughey’s Just Keep Livin Foundation.
Chesney got some help from Reese Witherspoon on the Johnny Cash song “Jackson”:
Kenny Chesney will perform a one-hour acoustic set at the House of Blues in New Orleans on May 17th to benefit Drew Brees’ Dream Foundation and Matthew McConaughey’s Just Keep Livin Foundation.
