Be As You Are

Lyrics

Man I could use a pina colada
Little bit of sun on my skin
A hammock, a book
Never gonna look back
Once my feet hit the sand
I’ve had it up to here with this rat race
Need a smile on my face

I wanna go where I can lighten up the load
Drive a little while on the wrong side of the road
Get this laying low off to a flying start
Play my guitar in the Caribbean sun
Hang with the locals at the Quiet Mon
Where you can be a tourist, a beach bum, or a star
And be as you are

Gettin’ stuck sure would be easy
In this palm tree paradise
Ambition fades with every wave
For the finer things in life
Maybe I’ll just hang around here
Go home later next year

I wanna go where I can lighten up the load
Drive a little while on the wrong side of the road
Get this laying low off to a flying start
Play my guitar in the Caribbean sun
Hang with the locals at the Quiet Mon
Where you can be a tourist, a beach bum, or a star
And be as you are

I wanna play my guitar in the Caribbean sun
Hang with the locals at the Quiet Mon
Where you can be a tourist, a beach bum, or a star
And be as you are
Be as you are

Kenny’s Note

I have always been drawn to the ocean. Even as a little kid, going to Myrtle Beach with my family, there was just something about the pull of the sea that drew me out of bed, kept me in the water long past dinner and made a kid from the Smoky Mountains feel strangely settled and at home. Maybe somebody way back in my family tree had a love affair with the tropics – somebody who felt their heart beat a little deeper when they were sitting on the beach, under the stars and a full moon with a gentle wind in their face, just staring into the horizon. Or maybe they were kicked back in a little bar, listening to music drifting through the warm air, telling stories with whomever else might be sitting there – nowhere to be, nothing to prove, just the night and the people enjoying the quiet or the laughter of the moment.
