Kenny Chesney will receive a prestige music industry award at the annual BMI Music Awards:

BMI will celebrate the extraordinary career of Kenny Chesney by presenting him with the BMI President’s Award at the Company’s 64th annual BMI Country Awards, to be held at BMI’s Nashville office on November 1, 2016. BMI President and CEO Mike O’Neill will host the ceremony with Jody Williams, BMI Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations, Nashville.

The BMI President’s Award is presented to songwriters who have distinctly and profoundly influenced the entertainment industry. In receiving the award, Chesney will join an impressive list of past honorees that includes P!nk, Willie Nelson, Brooks & Dunn, Pitbull, Adam Levine, Gloria & Emilio Estefan, and Toni Braxton.

“Kenny Chesney is first and foremost a songwriter,” says Williams. “Not only has he earned the respect of the songwriting community, but he has also developed into a top-notch recording artist who re-wrote the concert touring experience by selling out stadiums year after year. He is a friend to up-and-coming artists and songwriters and is as inspiring as he is talented. It is time to salute him for a career that has brought so much to so many, and is far from over.”

Track list:

  1. Trip Around the Sun
  2. All the Pretty Girls
  3. Setting the World On Fire – with P!nk
  4. Noise
  5. Bucket
  6. Bar at the End of the World
  7. Some Town Somewhere
  8. Rich and Miserable
  9. Jesus and Elvis
  10. Winnebago
  11. Coach
  12. I Want to Know What Love Is

Country Standard Time reveals more:

“I’ve been blessed with some of the best songs out there, some songs written, actually, just for this album by writers whose work I’ve loved for years,” Chesney said. “When ‘Setting The World On Fire’ came together, it opened a window of time – and some songs that had come in after we were done, I didn’t have to save for the next album. Suddenly, everything was changing, and the album I’m releasing now has a lot of what made ‘Some Town Somewhere’ capture the essential part of who the No Shoes Nation is, but really takes the your-life-is-now piece of ‘The Big Revival’ and expands it.

“And there’s one very special song I’ve been holding for years called ‘Coach’ that we went in and re-cut,” said Chesney. “It really captured that song’s heart.”

The new album will be released October 28th. You can pre-order the audio CD now at Amazon.

The brand new music video for Kenny Chesney and Pink’s “Setting The World On Fire” is out and you can watch it below.

The slow motion, black and white video takes place in Los Angeles, and is a romantic look at a young couple’s day of breezy love. They eat Chinese food in their hotel room, snap pictures on La Cienega Blvd. and generally look beautiful as they spend all day together and end their evening overlooking the city’s skyline.

While Chesney and P!nk don’t appear in the video per se, advertisements of them do. The video manages to stack several shots of billboards, building posters and more announcing the duet and making sure fans haven’t forgotten the artists behind this sweeping country ballad.

Rolling Stone reports that Kenny Chesney will not mount a major tour and will play only a handful of shows in 2017:

Kenny Chesney’s reps confirm to Rolling Stone Country that he will not be touring in 2017. After playing to more than 120,000 people at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, the superstar wrapped his massive Spread the Love tour last month to yet another round of record numbers. He’s now on a break from the road, as he readies his Cosmic Hallelujah album, due out October 28th. And as of right now, the singer is only plotting a handful of gigs in support of the new music — and not a full tour.

One of those shows is also in support of a cause very important to him. Chesney is set to headline the 2017 Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida. Set for April 7th-9th, the event will include performances by dozens of country, rock and roots acts on waterfront stages. It also features Conservation Village, a place for environmental organizations to set up shop, educating people about the dire need for ocean conservation and marine research. The festival works with the Rock the Ocean Foundation to increase awareness of various issues affecting the world’s oceans and what can be done to help. Since its 2013 inception, the Tortuga Music Festival has donated $300,000 to its Conservation Village partners.

Kenny Plays Battle at Bristol, Peyton Manning Surprises Crowd

Kenny Chesney performed on the eve of the Battle at Bristol on Friday night and his friend Peyton Manning joined him onstage.

It doesn’t get much better in East Tennessee — on the night before a Tennessee football game, but really anytime — than a combination of Chesney and Peyton Manning.

The concert, on the eve of the “Battle at Bristol” between Tennessee and Virginia Tech, featured country acts Old Dominion and The Band Perry. By the time Chesney took the stage, the grandstand along the racetrack’s backstretch was virtually filled. Many fans wore either Tennessee orange or Virginia Tech maroon.

Chesney, a lifelong Vols fan, stopped at one point during the high-energy show to tell the crowd about his days attending East Tennessee State University in nearby Johnson City, playing the bars in the area and working for a year at El Chico restaurant to raise enough money to cut an album in Bristol, Va., just across the state line. And as the final bars played from his No. 1 hit “The Boys of Fall,” an ode to football, Chesney motioned Manning from the wings, where he’d been sitting and watching the show.

As the former Tennessee and NFL great appeared onstage, Chesney grabbed an acoustic guitar. He and Manning signed it. And then they walked together to the front of the stage.

As the crowd roared, Manning picked out a young fan wearing an orange Tennessee football jersey (No. 98, for 1998, when the Vols won the national championship). They pulled the boy onstage and presented him the guitar.
We are here this weekend to celebrate music,” Chesney said earlier in the show. “And we are here to celebrate football.”

And there’s no better way to celebrate it in East Tennessee than with Manning.
