“You can’t conjure a song that captures that feeling of being on the brink like this does,” Chesney says in a press release. “The lyrics are a perfect way of saying it, but when you feel that melody rise, the arrangement picking up momentum — it’s bigger than you are, and all you want to do is throw yourself against the night. Then when Pink comes in, well, that just brings this [song] to life.”

Kenny Chesney’s next single to be released to radio will be his recently announced duet with P!nk:

The artist announced he will release the song, “Setting the World on Fire,” as his second single from Cosmic Hallelujah, a name he recently changed to from the original, Some Town Somewhere. Chesney pushed back the album release primarily to get the pop artist’s contribution onto the record, and ended up changing the title after being inspired by the sound of the album as a whole.

The new single is slated for official release to radio July 28, and promises to be a vivid picture of what it feels like to be on the brink of falling in love — the excitement, the anticipation, the passion, the energy.

Chesney adds that the song grabbed him as soon as he heard it, and he knew it was meant for the album.

Kenny Brings Fan with Cancer Onstage

A Hamburg, NY woman being treated for cancer was brought up onstage by Kenny Chesney at a recent concert:

In April, 22-year-old Alicia Porack was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She uses YouTube to post videos to share her journey in the hopes for it to be an outlet for her and to help others who might be suffering from the same form of cancer..

Two days after she went for chemotherapy treatment and shaved her head, Porack was supposed to attend a Kenny Chesney concert, but was apprehensive about attending.

“My friend Taylor was like we need to make you a sign. We want to get you on stage. Kenny Chesney brings people on stage all the time and I was like, ‘No, no, no I don’t want to do that. It’s fine. I just want to go watch the concert,’” she tells WGRZ.

Porack’s friends made a sign anyway — it read ‘Beatin’ Cancer’ — and they hid it under a shirt to sneak it in.
“And Kenny Chesney saw it. And he was like, oh I see it, I see it and then after his encore he came over and kind of like pulled me up and it was just, it was unbelievable. He basically was like you’re beautiful. You’re going to be okay. Everything’s going to be okay. Just keep doing what you’re doing. You’re a strong girl. I got offstage and everyone around me was crying and it was just, it was amazing,” Porack says with a big smile.

She took her wig off right before jumping up on stage with Chesney. It was the first time her friends had seen her without it.

“That moment where I took it off and went on stage in front of all those people, it was one of the most empowering moments that I’ve ever had,” the fan adds. “It was almost just like I don’t care what people think of me. It is what it is. Like what do I have to hide at this point? So it was, for as hard as it was, it was so empowering and it was, I’m very, very happy that I did it.”

Chesney Changes Name of Upcoming Album

Last week Kenny Chesney announced that his new album’s release date would be delayed until October. He then went on Good Morning America on Friday and announced that the title of the album is changing too!

Kenny’s creative roll over the last few months defies conventional business wisdom, but it seems to be igniting a whole other spark. After writing, recording and releasing “Noise” in a matter of 11 days – and delaying the follow-up to his acclaimed The Big Revival until October 28 to accommodate “Setting the World On Fire,” featuring pop superstar P!NK – Kenny went on Good Morning America and surprised the hosts with a brand new title for his forthcoming album: Cosmic Hallelujah.

“The more I listened, the more these songs’ energy– especially ‘Setting The World On Fire’ – took hold,” Kenny said. “Some Town Somewhere is a great title, and it’s every single one of us. But then there’s how the album fits together, and even expands on what the last album did. So, I could go with what was already in place, or I could grab the title that felt the most right.

“In the end, these album titles are around for a very long time. I really try to have titles that give people a sense of what the music is, and what the album is all about. There sure is a lot of Some Town Somewhere for sure, but really when I pulled back and listened: these songs are all about taking The Big Revival to the next level; that level is Cosmic Hallelujah.”

Tune it to ABC on Friday morning to watch Kenny Chesney perform from Central Park as part of the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series:

“Music is medicine,” Chesney says. “It does so much good for people. You can find your life, your truth and yes, your fun in it. That’s one of the things that drew me to music, and it’s one of the best things about being out on the road: seeing all the people, hearing them sing and cheer – and you can tell how much fun they’re having. The fact music can do that, well, that’s part of why playing Good Morning America is such a great thing: get people’s day off to a great start, and let them take that music with them.”

Good Morning America airs at 7:00am on ABC.

Sorry folks but you’ll have to wait a little longer for new music from Kenny Chesney. “Some Town Somewhere” was scheduled for released this Friday but is being pushed back for a special collaboration:

Originally due out on Friday (July 8), Some Town Somewhere is now set for release on Oct. 28. Chesney shared the news via a press release, explaining that the new timeline will allow him to add “Setting the World on Fire,” a duet with pop star Pink, to the project.

“Sure, it would be easier to just leave everything on schedule. But when you have something you know is great, and it captures the best part of being alive, why wouldn’t you slow down enough to make it happen in the moment?” Chesney says. “That’s what “Setting the World on Fire” is all about — and I figure it may be a while before I make another record, and I don’t want to wait to share this because it’s so good.”

Chesney and Pink formed a friendship while the “Noise” singer was spending time in California; he calls her “an incredible singer,” describing her voice as one that “holds so many feelings all at the same time: joy, desire, a bit of toughness, a little hurt.”

“The thing about Pink, beyond what a great singer she is, is what a generous spirit she has,” Chesney adds. “To me, great singers are the ones who can get inside a song and capture the spark. When you hear Pink on this song, you believe her — and to me, that’s everything the song required to come to life.”

Kenny Joins Billy Joel at PNC Park

Kenny Chesney performs Saturday in Pittsburgh at Heinz Field, but he came to town early and made a surprise appearance at Billy Joel’s PNC Park show on Friday night:

As Billy Joel sang “Friday night I crashed your party,” Kenny Chesney was doing exactly that.

Chesney showed up Friday at Joel’s PNC Park concert, strolling onto the stage for the fourth encore song, “You May Be Right,” to share vocal duties as Joel remained at his rotating piano.

The band added some Led Zeppelin “Rock and Roll” riffs, and Chesney didn’t conceal his glee at getting to rock out with Joel, who had invited him up there as a surprise treat for fans. Sure, there had been pre-show speculation about the possibility of such a pairing, since Chesney had arrived in Pittsburgh early for his Heinz Field show Saturday, though it still was a thrilling moment to see two superstars join forces in unannounced fashion.

Not that Joel needed a boost, as he and his sharp band already had sailed into the homestretch of a richly entertaining performance that featured 27 songs, none from this century.
