“Bar At The End Of The World” Selected as Next Single

Kenny Chesney has selected his next single of his newest album:

Chesney’s third single from Cosmic Halleljuah, “Bar at the End of the World” was written by JT Harding, Aimee Mayo and David Lee Murphy, but the song is quintessential Chesney: a tune about “a little tin roof bar down a path you have to follow” — a place “like nowhere else that you’ve ever been,” where “there ain’t no empty glasses” and where “they’re playing “Drift Away.”” Readers can press play below to hear the tune.

“That song is about escaping everything in your life, whether it’s the election or your job or whatever is weighing you down,” Chesney tells EW. “I think there is a part of all of us that wakes up one day and says, ‘I want to find a bar that is as far away as I possibly can, and just sit there.’”

Grammy Nomination for Kenny and Pink

Grammy nominations were recently announced and Kenny Chesney and P!NK earned a nod for “Setting The World On Fire” in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category.

“You’re kidding me,” Kenny responded, when reached somewhere on the sea. “That’s fantastic. What a thing, what news to wake up to.”

“When I heard the song, I knew it was pretty special,” Kenny continued, speaking of the two-week Country No. 1 and the Top 20 Hot AC – and still rising – single. “But when we got P!NK on there, it was something else. She captures all the emotion, all the joy of being alive, being free and in the moment – and brought everything inside the song to life. I couldn’t be happier this morning, knowing the people who vote for the GRAMMYs heard in that song all the things that I do.”

Recorded in Los Angeles, the Josh Osborne/Ross Copperman/Matt Jenkins song – ironically inspired by one of the co-writer’s own first trip to the GRAMMYs – became the second single from Kenny’s unconventional Cosmic Hallelujah. As Kenny said upon releasing the track to radio, “I knew the moment I heard this song, it was exactly the moment of life and love exploding, and everything turning Technicolor. Finding songs that are in the moment are harder, in this kind of moment, it’s almost impossible. And the idea of bringing P!NK in adds to that sense of this song is happening as we sing it. It’s funny how people respond to stuff that feels real and right now.”

The 59th annual Grammy awards will air February 12th from Los Angeles on CBS.
