After teasing the release a few weeks ago, this morning Kenny Chesney released an updated iPhone app, plus the much anticipated Android version. iPad and Mac platforms both have their own apps now too.

The apps, which are available now for iPhones, iPads, Androids, and Apple computers, are the first of their kind in mobile artist platforms, combining Chesney’s signature radio station, web store, and social media channels into one user-friendly experience. Chesney was personally involved with designing the apps, applying the same attention to detail that he does with his live performances and recording sessions. “I wanted these apps to be an extension of my albums and shows,” Chesney said. “Even in the middle of the winter, fans can open up the app wherever they are, listen to a little No Shoes Radio, take a photo that looks like it came straight out of my music video, and feel like they’re back at the party all year long.”

“The evolution of radio continues to put more power into the hands of the consumer, and these apps allow No Shoes Radio fans to listen wherever they are — in the car, on their boat, on the beach — and on even more of their devices,” No Shoes Radio Program Director Jon Anthony said.

Perhaps one of the coolest new features is the suite of camera filters, similar to Instagram. You can take pictures within the app, or pull an existing picture, and easily apply filters, including the Fishbowl filter:

Here are a few key features of the apps: Listen to songs hand-picked by Chesney through No Shoes Radio. Not only can users keep their friends updated with what they’re listening to through Facebook and Twitter (with hashtags and other Twitter symbols built-in), but they can also request songs to be played on the station. On the mobile version, a variety of skins are available so that fans can choose the ideal backdrop for their own customized No Shoes Radio listening experience.

While listening to No Shoes Radio, users can purchase tickets to concerts and view a countdown to the show they’re attending, which can be shared through their social networks. Fans can even access a map that will provide driving directions to a show. If a fan would like to avoid lines at the concert, merchandise can be bought directly through the app, arriving at the user’s doorstep days later.

Fans can preview and purchase Chesney’s albums on iTunes/Amazon, and enjoy them without leaving the app.

Other features include compatibility with Apple AirPlay for easy wireless streaming and an “On the Road” section that highlights fans’ social media posts and photos.

The Academy of Country Music held their sixth annual Honors ceremony on Monday night, recognizing industry and specialty award winners.

Kenny Chesney was honored with the Crystal Milestone Award for touring success.

From The Tennessean:

“I remember our first night ever doing a headlining show, I made (my team) walk out to the front and take a picture to prove there were going to be people there,” Chesney said. “The longer I do this the more I realize how fortunate we are … To be able to do what I do the way we do it is one of the biggest blessings in the world. All the numbers are great and this is great, but it’s the people that you get to do it with that’s the best, and I can say I think I got to do it with the best.”

Is Eric Church Touring with Kenny Chesney Next Year?

posted September 19th, 2012 at 9:41 am

by Josh Martn

The Boot has an article that speculates that up and comer Eric Church may join Kenny Chesney on tour next year.

In spite of Eric Church’s announcement that he would be taking time off the road in 2013, rumors are swirling that he might be teaming with Kenny for a series of shows — something the “Creepin'” singer will neither confirm nor deny at this point.

“It’s still rumor stage, but I can at least say most of next year off is true,” Eric maintained to Broadway at Florida radio station WKIS. “We’re doing some shows in Canada first part of the year but as far as the U.S. goes, I think it’s looking like we maybe do 20 shows across the country. We’re going to play a few things but we’re not on tour, we’re going to take big chunks off. I’m going to try and focus on, from a songwriting standpoint and a record standpoint, where we go next and where we go from here. Regardless of what happens with touring with anybody else, we’re going to be taking most of the year off.”

If Church is indeed teaming with Kenny for 20 or so shows, that suggests another stadium tour may be in the works.

Stay tuned!

Chesney Details Some Fall Plans

posted September 12th, 2012 at 9:17 pm

by Josh Martn

With the 2012 Brothers of the Sun Tour in the rear view mirror, are you already itching for your Kenny Chesney fix?

His crew released some information today on some fall plans. Here’s what whey sent out:

September 5 – Chesney, a four-time CMA Entertainer of the Year winner, was once again nominated for the award, along with Music Video of the Year for “Come Over” and Musical Event of the Year for “Feel Like a Rock Star,” his duet with Tim McGraw. The award ceremony will be held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 1.

September 6 – His new single “El Cerrito Place,” from the gold-certified ‘Welcome To The Fishbowl,’ shipped to radio last week and was Monday’s most-added song on country radio, according to Mediabase. It’s the follow up to the smash track “Come Over,” which was Chesney’s twenty-fourth #1 single. “The longing of this frustrated, angry, soul-searching emotion this person is feeling… I think it defines a lot of people,” Chesney said of “El Cerrito Place.” “I have felt all that emotion, and I’ve lived the song for so long. I just love what it says and I love the way Keith Gattis wrote it.”

September 22 – Chesney and his band will join Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews and John Mellencamp at Farm Aid on September 22. The concert, which will benefit the nation’s family farmers, will be held at Hershey Park Stadium in Hershey, PA. Chesney last performed at Farm Aid’s 25th anniversary concert in 2010.

September 24 – The Academy of Country Music will honor Chesney with a Crystal Milestone Award, which celebrates his selling more than 10.5 million tickets on recent tours and honors Chesney for helping developing country acts gain nationwide exposure. The event will be held at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

More to come – Chesney will release a package of mobile apps, designed to bring the experience of his albums and live shows directly to the user and will be announcing other special Fall 2012 performances.
