“Rock Star” Music Video Almost Wasn’t Made

In an interview with CMT, Chesney’s long-time music video director Shaun Silva says that McGraw and Chesney almost didn’t have time to get a video done for “Feel Like a Rock Star.”

“Feel Like a Rock Star” is the video that almost wasn’t. Between the crazy busy schedules of Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney, there just wasn’t enough time to put one together. But then Chesney had an idea: Find a few hours — and an airplane hangar — and film a little bit of a tour warm-up.

I talked to the director of this tour-rehearsal-in-a-hangar video, Shaun Silva, Tuesday (April 24), and he told me what Chesney and McGraw were like on that set in a Nashville-area hangar.

“Both of them just draw you in,” he said. “Both of them captivate you in different ways. Kenny is all over the stage. He really is an artist who puts a lot of passion and energy and drive into all his performances, almost like an athlete. And Tim has a presence that just pulls you in. He’s not going to be the guy running around the stage, but he will absolutely captivate you.” Silva said the video shows you both sides to each superstar, which I can’t help but think will be exactly what fans see on their Brothers of the Sun tour.

Kenny Chesney will perform in New Orleans next month at a private charity event supporting two of his friends’ charities:

Kenny Chesney will perform at a private fundraiser on May 11 at House of Blues in New Orleans. The event, which features a race of 30 teams through the French Quarter, is sponsored by two charitable organizations: the Brees Dream Foundation (led by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and wife Brittany) and the JK Livin Foundation (headed by actor Matthew McConaughey and fiancée Camila Alves). The organizations have partnered to provide after-school fitness and wellness programs in the New Orleans area.

“Kenny has been a dear friend and always expressed interest in working with the foundation,” Brees and McConaughey said in a written statement. “This is such a wonderful way to end the race and his support means the world to us.”
