The 2012 Billboard Touring Awards were held Thursday night in New York and Kenny Chesney was a big winner:

Kenny was honored twice, winning the Top Package Award for his Brothers of the Sun Tour featuring Tim McGraw, Jake Owen and Grace Potter & the Nocturnals. Kenny also took home the Road Warrior Award.

“It was ironic that before I came up here they had ‘Dancing In The Dark’ playing, and I have a lot of heroes that have busted down the door for guys like me that help me make music like I make it and tour like I tour,” Chesney while accepting his Road Warrior award. “And Bruce is one of those. I met Neil Diamond, it was an honor to meet someone like Neil Diamond who continues to have focus and record music and go out and entertain people. To be able to do that in my life is one of the biggest honors and thrills that I have.”

Chesney to Perform at Cowboys Thanksgiving Game

posted October 28th, 2012 at 4:58 pm

by Josh Martn

Kenny Chesney was in Dallas today to announce that he’d be the half-time performer for the Cowboys Thanksgiving day (Nov. 22) game, which serves as the kickoff for the Salvation Army’s 122nd annual Red Kettle Campaign.

Executive vice president Charlotte Jones Anderson and Major George Hood from The Salvation Army introduced Chesney, who joins a long list of celebrities and performers who’ve participated in the Red Kettle Campaign, including Enrique Iglesias, Keith Urban, Toby Keith, the Jonas Brothers and Kelly Clarkson, benefiting millions of people most in need.

“It’s an honor to be here at Cowboys Stadium again and to be a part of Thanksgiving Day,” Chesney said. “It’s been an incredible tradition that I’m really honored to be a part of. I just want to thank Charlotte and her dad and everybody for having me here.”

Chesney said his goal will be to keep the halftime performance upbeat, and he doesn’t expect the audience to be much different than he’s accustomed to.

“I don’t think we’re going to come here on Thanksgiving Day and play a bunch of slow songs,” Chesney said. “It’s going to be a fun eight minutes or whatever it is we’ve got on stage. I do realize it’s a very diverse audience that will be watching, but I think that definitely defines the audience we play in front of every summer, every show. We have a very smart, very eclectic audience out there.”
