The CMT Artists of the Year celebration was taped in Nashville Tuesday night and Kenny Chesney was among the five artists honored. The other award-winners were Jason Aldean, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, and Lady Antebellum.

Chesney was presented with his award by his good friend, Saints coach Sean Payton, and also by former St Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa.

It was a night full of cross-pollinated moments, with host Rob Lowe, Lionel Richie, William Shatner, Joe Walsh, Gavin DeGraw, New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton, former St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa, The Avett Brothers and The All-American Rejects on hand to celebrate country’s biggest entertainers. But it was Hank Williams Jr. who turned in the night’s most buzzed about moment, leaving the stage quickly mid-song after singing his part during a duet with Aldean.

The 90-minute special will premier Dec. 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.

Many of you have asked if Kenny Chesney will play arenas and amphitheaters along with his 19 stadium dates on next year’s Brothers of the Sun Tour. The answer, according to Kenny himself, is no:

Outside of the possibility for a few shows here and there, the Brothers tour will for the most part be the extent of both artists’ road work in 2012. “I think we’re going to do the shows we do with Tim and that’s gonna be it,” says Chesney. “I’m going to work on other things, other projects, and I’m constantly working on the record, though I’m not sure when that’s coming. We may go overseas-maybe. But as far as the States, the shows I’m doing with Tim are the only ones we’re gonna do.”

Tickets for the Dallas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, East Rutherford, Detroit, and Foxboro shows will go on sale Saturday, December 3rd through Ticketmaster.

It looks to be a safe bet that Kenny Chesney will announce his 2012 tour plans on Monday. No Shoes Radio posted the following on their Facebook page Friday night:

If we were you, we’d be listening to NSR Monday morning around 9am ET or so. Pretty sure it’s going to make your Monday a lot better. Just sayin’. Enjoy your weekend!

Rumors swirled all week that Kenny’s 2012 tour plans include co-headlining with Tim McGraw. Country Aircheck reported that the two are also recording a duet.
