The New Orleans Saints crushed the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night, and Kenny Chesney was there with his pal Sean Payton who was recovering from a leg injury suffered on the sidelines last week.
Payton’s surgically repaired left leg was still in a bulky brace after taking a crippling hit on the Saints’ third offensive play during last week’s loss to Tampa Bay. The Superdome’s coaching booth is barely equipped to handle able-bodied legs, so Payton’s inflexible peg leg had to be propped up on a chair more than likely. Everything about the situation reeked of uncomfortableness, and then came kickoff.
Payton wasn’t able to leave the press box with the injury, which he knew would be the case going into the game. So Payton chowed down a hot dog and then his good buddy, country music star Kenny Chesney, joined him to pass the time. (Yes, that really happened.)

The inspiration for Kenny Chesney’s latest single came from an unlikely place:
Speaking about the inspiration behind his latest single, Kenny says, “I was lying in a dentist chair, I had the mask on, you know, where they give you that funny gas so they can work on your mouth without you feelin’ it and all that kind of stuff,” he recalls. “I remember thinking, ‘Wow, I haven’t been this relaxed in a long time. This is my escape from reality.’”
Kenny Chesney performed Saturday night at the Bill Clinton “A Decade of Difference” concert. Grace Potter joined him for “You and Tequila” and Kenny also performed “Somewhere With You,” “Beer in Mexico,” and “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven.”

If you’ve been watching the Major League Baseball playoffs, you’ve likely seen a new State Farm Insurance commercial featuring Kenny Chesney’s “There Goes My Life.” The ad focuses on teen driving safety, following a little girl from toddler to teen driver.
State Farm is debuting the commercial leading up to the fifth annual National Teen Driver Safety Week, October 16 – 22, 2011. The week is dedicated to raising awareness about the tragedy of teen vehicle crashes, the leading cause of death for young people in the U.S., and is meant to spark communication among teenagers, parents, educators and civic leaders about the causes of and solutions to teen crashes.
“Teen car crashes affect all who share our roads,” said Laurette Stiles, Vice President – Strategic Resources at State Farm. “During National Teen Driver Safety Week and year-round we invite everyone to join the national conversation aimed at preventing unnecessary injuries and loss of life.”
