Chesney Hits Number One with “Somewhere With You”

Kenny Chesney has another number one hit as his latest single “Somewhere With You” climbed to the top of the Billboard Top Country Songs chart this week.

That makes 21 number one hits for Kenny.

“Melodically, I think this is the most unpredictable melody that I’ve sang in a long time,” says the singer. “And I think just the overall feel and the essence and what the song — the overall message of the song — what it says, so many people can relate to that. They have that person in their life that, ‘Yeah, I’m with this person now, but I still think about this over here.’ This may be a great, committed relationship, or it may just be a date, but still that person is in their head, in their heart, and they’re thinking about it.”

Congrats Kenny!

Kenny Chesney won’t be the inaugural act at the new Tuscaloosa Amphitheater after all:

Promoter Red Mountain Entertainment announced today that Chesney’s show has been pushed back from March 31 to May 25.

For now, that makes Sugarland the first scheduled act at the new outdoor venue, with its show there on April 15.

No explanation was given for the switch, but tickets for Chesney’s appearance will go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 22, as planned.

The KCOFC, Kenny’s Official Fan Club, is the place to get presale tickets before they go on sale to the general public. As an additional exclusive offer, members will now have the opportunity to purchase sand bar tickets (standing room only pits that are actually inside the stage) for Kenny’s stadium and arena shows on this year’s tour. These exclusive tickets are limited in quantity so you will need to get in early to the presales to purchase them.

Members who purchase through the Fan Club presales also will have a chance to be upgraded to the sand bar when purchasing any non-sand bar tickets. Members must sign up for the upgrade here to be entered. You will not be automatically entered as with previous sand bar upgrades. If chosen, your tickets will then be upgraded so be sure that you are willing to forfeit your purchased tickets when entering. For more information on current upgrade policies and to sign up, click here. Shows with upgrades will be posted after the presale has started so check back often.

After yesterday’s announcement of 41 additional shows, the Goin’ Coastal Tour is up to 51 dates. But it looks like Kenny’s not done yet.

In a tweet sent out yesterday, Kenny’s people said that more dates are coming:

In an interview last fall Kenny said that they’d play “60ish” shows in 2011. So somewhere in the ballpark of 10 more shows could be added at some point. If your town wasn’t announced yesterday, you may get a date announced in the future… so keep up hope!

After the big success of The Boys of Fall documentary, Kenny Chesney has teamed up once again with Shaun Silva to produce another football documentary, this one on University of Tennessee quarterback Condredge Holloway:

Chesney, who wore Holloway’s jersey number when he played high school football, idolized the University of Tennessee quarterback and was thrilled to produce the documentary.
He said: “Condredge has meant so much to so many and is a very important figure in my life and to the history of cllege football. I’m excited, with the help of Shaun Silva, to tell his story, to show his journey, and to help show the world just how influential he was to how the game is played today and how many doors he opened for so many athletes that have followed in his footsteps.”

Holloway was the first African-American to start at quarterback in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

The documentary will debut February 20th at 8 pm ET on ESPN.
