Kenny Chesney’s blockbuster Goin’ Coastal Tour was one of the top grossing tour of 2011 according to Billboard:

It’s incredible that Taylor Swift grossed nearly $100 million on the road this year.

More incredible still, she didn’t come close to having the top-grossing tour of the year. In fact, she finished fifth, and Kenny Chesney’s $84.6 million on-road receipts for 2011 put him at sixth on Billboard’s Boxscore list of top-grossing tours of the year.

U2 topped the list with an astonishing $300 million, followed by Bon Jovi with $193 million in second. Third went to Take That with $185 million and Roger Waters landed in fourth with $150 million.

The Brothers of the Sun Tour doesn’t kick off for seven months but Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw are already breaking records:

As of Dec. 3, Kenny has sold nearly 275,000 concert tickets, more tickets for the first eight available concerts than any of his previous tour’s initial sales.

“I wish it was happening right now … I’m so ready for it,” Kenny tells KIKN. “I’m really excited to say that I’m going out on the road next summer with my buddy. It’s really hard for me to believe, because Tim and I have been friends a long time. We’ve made a lot of music together and made a lot of memories together. He’s one of my best friends in the business and outside the business.”

With several shows approaching sold-out status, and 12 concerts sill set to go on sale, Kenny is poised to match his last eight consecutive tours with more than a million tickets sold.
