Kenny Chesney presented the final award award of the night on Wednesday at the ESPYs. It was very fitting, as the Best Team award went to Kenny’s friends: the New Orleans Saints.

A huge sports fan, here’s what Kenny said in presenting the award:

Favorite players come and go
But our favorite team is forever
Passed down from generation to generation
Like a family heirloom
Our teams represent our home town
Our father’s home town
We don’t just root for them
We live for them
We don’t just wear their colors
We bleed their colors
And win or lose we believe that our team is the best

Watch Kenny on The ESPYs Tonight

Kenny Chesney is usually the one receiving the trophy at awards shows, but tonight he’ll be on the other side of the coin as a presenter at the 2010 ESPYs.

The ESPN ESPY’s celebrate individual and team achievements in several different sports, and the biggest athletes in the world will be in attendance. Other presenters announced on Wednesday include Chris Berman, Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage), Brooklyn Decker (Sports Illustrated cover model), Zac Efron, Will Ferrell, Ashley Greene (The Twilight Saga), Samuel L. Jackson, Tracy Morgan, Danica Patrick, Stuart Scott and Shaun White.

Tune in tonight at 9 pm ET as Seth Meyers hosts the 18th annual ESPYs on ESPN.

Update – Kenny talks about being a presenter:

“Obviously, I’m friends with an awful lot of coaches and athletes,” Chesney says, “so being able to do this, is being able to honor a lot of my friends – and that’s always nice. Anyone who knows me knows that I’ve always tried to run my career like an athlete: have that discipline, that work ethic and gamesmanship… So I’d like to believe I understand how extraordinary these kinds of accomplishments are. To be able to be a part of honoring people who’ve achieved at this level… the honor is all mine.”

“When we’re on the road, we wake up with SportsCenter and leave ESPN on all day,” says Chesney. “It’s the one thing on the road that remains a constant for us out there… no matter where we are, it’s the one thing that is always on. So being asked to be a part of something with Drew Brees, Reggie Bush and Terrell Owens is cool.”

Kenny on “Boys of Fall” Single

Country Standard Time has Kenny discussing his latest single: “Boys of Fall”, which hits country radio on Monday:

“I just stopped right there, and played it over and over again,” Chesney says of the song. “I knew -as maybe only someone who has felt that thrill of rushing out onto the field on a cold Friday night can -that was exactly how it is…and it also gives you a sense of why playing football in high school is such a powerful thing for anyone who does it. It’s life changing; it just is -and for anyone who’s never experienced that, this song helps them understand why.”

The video for the lead track from his Sept. 28 CD release features New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton delivering a heartfelt speech to the team where the 2010 Super Bowl-winning coach spent his own high school football career.

“The thing about all of it -the song, the video, the documentary, it’s not just about people who play football and go onto be Joe Namath or (ESPN’s) Kirk Herbstreit, it’s about the Moms driving their kids to practice, and the way this’ll shape the men their sons will become…the girls who come to the games and cheer -and are part of why the boys want to achieve… It’s about the towns who identify with the fate of their team so heavily, it’s a topic of conversation at the diner or the barber shop… and the players who won’t play past high school, but use the lessons they learn to become successful as their lives evolve.”

“Anyone who thinks high school football is just a game hasn’t really experienced the best part of high school football. For the coaches, it’s the chance to shape lives; for the kids, it’s the rush and the glory; for the people watching, it’s the thrill of seeing their young men achieve. It brings all kinds of communities together in ways people don’t often think about -but anyone who’s heard this song, they nod their head and smile, because they know.”
