Chesney Performs at Super Bowl Post-Game Party

According to a couple of articles, Kenny Chesney performed at a private party Sunday night at the Saints hotel in Miami.

Chesney was all over Miami the past few days. His internet radio station No Shoes Radio broadcasted live from South Beach, while Kenny appeared on ESPN’s Mike and Mike on Friday morning and NFL Countdown before the game on Sunday.

UpdateNOLA has more details on the party:

Next up is Chesney, a FOSP – Friend of Sean Payton. Chesney watched the NFC Championship Game from Payton’s suite in the Superdome, and attended the coach’s post-game locker-room speech.

During the Super Bowl, the singer cheered the Black & Gold from his own suite in Sun Life Stadium. Payton requested Chesney play the post-game party.

And so at 3 a.m., a guy who has filled the Indianapolis Colts’ Lucas Oil Stadium takes the stage of a Saints-centric hotel ballroom.

In a white T-shirt and Saints cap, Chesney lights into “Living in Fast Forward.” “The Saints just won the Super Bowl!” he says, as if there could be any doubt.

Payton joins Chesney and announces his intention to soon drink beer in Mexico. Thus, Chesney performs “Beer in Mexico.”

The coach and tight end David Thomas take turns at the microphone. Strief, kicker Garrett Hartley and other players roam the stage, reveling in the moment, their moment.

The audience chants “Tro-phy! Tro-phy!” Payton hands over the hardware to outstretched hands.

And suddenly the Vince Lombardi Trophy is crowd-surfing.

After 30 minutes, Chesney calls it a night. He and the coach embrace.

Chesney Pulling for Payton over Peyton

Though Kenny Chesney is good friends with both the Saints coach Sean Payton and Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, Kenny will be pulling the hardest for the Saints on Sunday:

“I would love to see the Saints win the Super Bowl, because they’ve never won it, and what it would mean to the city of New Orleans,” Chesney said. “After Katrina, the music scene in New Orleans took such a hit. Everything did. If they win the Super Bowl, it would be a shot that the town needs. I’m pulling for that.

“Of course, if the Colts win, I’ll be happy for Peyton, too — nobody works harder than him.”

After spending much of the week in Nashville editing his forthcoming concert film, “Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3-D,” he planned to roll down to South Florida with his father and a bunch of buddies.

They’ll take in the game from Chesney’s suite in Sun Life Stadium. Afterward, per Sean Payton’s request, Chesney will perform at the Saints’ private post-game party.

The singer is still riding high from watching the Saints beat the Vikings from Payton’s suite in the Superdome.

“I didn’t have an allegiance to New Orleans growing up, but the more I’ve played there and been there and seen the spirit of the town…it’s a great music town and a great sports town,” Chesney said. “It’s a town that I’ve grown to love.”

We already told you that Kenny Chesney will be on ESPN’s Mike & Mike show Friday morning, and it turns out that won’t be the only ESPN program he’ll appear on this weekend.

Look for Kenny on NFL Countdown on Sunday at 1 pm where he’ll talk about the game and his buddies Sean Payton and Peyton Manning.

“It’s not like I’m the definitive voice or anything,” Chesney says of the two stops on ESPN, “but I do think I represent the definitive football fan. Me and the guys watch these games, live and die over who’s playing who all season when we’re closing out the tour – and this is, obviously, the biggest game of the year. So I love that Golic and Greenberg want me on their show.”

“As for ‘NFL Countdown,’ well, that’s like doing the Grammys for football. That’s about the best analysis there is, and I’m looking forward to being part of their coverage.”

No Shoes Radio has been broadcasting from Miami, but Chesney has yet to make it to town. He’s been working feverishly to get “Summer in 3D” completed.

“You’d never believe how much work goes into something like this,” he laughs. “But once you’re in, you can’t just stop. So as much as I wanted to be down at the pool with Uncle Kracker, I’ve been in an edit bay, cutting film, changing shots – cause when the wheels go up tonight for Miami, I wanna be able to just forget about everything and enjoy some football!”

“I know this year’s Super Bowl is gonna be a great game. I’m not gonna bet on it, but I wouldn’t want to… and that’s half the fun of it! So I’m gonna get up early Friday, go hang with Mike & Mike and then have so much fun I’m gonna be ready to get back to work on the film on Monday!”

The ESPN duo Mike & Mike (Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg) revealed on Twitter tonight that Kenny Chesney will join them on set in Miami this Friday:

Chesney is a favorite of Mike & Mike. He joined them last April when the tour launched in Uncasville, CT (near ESPN’s headquarters).

So Kenny will be in Miami on Friday, but will he be in town before that for the Hooters Super Pool Party where No Shoes Radio will be broadcasting from Feb. 2nd-4th? Only time will tell.
