Chesney Reference on Saturday Night Live

posted November 15th, 2009 at 12:03 am

by Josh Martn

In the opening skit of Saturday Night Live tonight, Joe Biden (played by Jason Sudeikis) was giving an address from the Oval Office and made a random Kenny Chesney reference.

Biden said that he would get health care passed while the President was gone. To get bipartisan support, the first Republican to cross the aisle and support the bill would be allowed to add a provision to the bill… any provision:

“It could be whatever you want. You want a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage? That’s fine. Maybe a national holiday for Kenny Chesney? Or a law that makes it illegal to be Nancy Pelosi? Whatever.”

Kenny’s Congratulatory Words to Taylor Swift

posted November 14th, 2009 at 12:17 am

by Josh Martn

The first person to congratulate Taylor Swift on her CMA Entertainer of the Year Award was Kenny Chesney, and she shared with CMT Insider what he said:

“He just said, ‘I’m so proud of you and I love you so much,'” she recalled. “We were texting earlier, and we were saying that same thing, like, ‘No matter what happens tonight, I love you so much.’ And it was just like I really, really love Kenny a lot. All the other people in the category with me have taken me out on tour as their opening act. Every one of them — Keith, Brad, George, Kenny — all of them. And so those are people that I’ve looked up to and just held up in my head as these heroes, and they’re always going to that for me.”

You can watch CMT Insider today (Nov. 14) at 1 p.m. ET/PT.

The 43rd Annual CMA Awards were disappointing for Kenny Chesney and his fans as the reigning Entertainer of the Year was shut out in the three categories that he was nominated: Musical Event of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.

It was a big night for Taylor Swift, who won Album of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and the night’s biggest crown: Entertainer of the Year. “I will never forgot this moment because in this moment everyting I have ever wanted has happened to me,” she said.

When Swift was announced as Entertainer of the Year, Kenny gave her a very gracious congratulatory kiss on the cheek.
