The 43rd Annual CMA Awards were disappointing for Kenny Chesney and his fans as the reigning Entertainer of the Year was shut out in the three categories that he was nominated: Musical Event of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.
It was a big night for Taylor Swift, who won Album of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and the night’s biggest crown: Entertainer of the Year. “I will never forgot this moment because in this moment everyting I have ever wanted has happened to me,” she said.
When Swift was announced as Entertainer of the Year, Kenny gave her a very gracious congratulatory kiss on the cheek.
Though Chesney took home no awards, he and Dave Matthews closed out the performances with a fantastic rendition of their top 10 hit “I’m Alive”.
Here’s the list of winners:
- Entertainer of the Year – Taylor Swift
- Female Vocalist of the Year – Taylor Swift
- Male Vocalist of the Year – Brad Paisley
- New Artists of the Year – Darius Rucker
- Vocal Group of the Year – Lady Antebellum
