The 43rd Annual CMA Awards were disappointing for Kenny Chesney and his fans as the reigning Entertainer of the Year was shut out in the three categories that he was nominated: Musical Event of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.

It was a big night for Taylor Swift, who won Album of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and the night’s biggest crown: Entertainer of the Year. “I will never forgot this moment because in this moment everyting I have ever wanted has happened to me,” she said.

When Swift was announced as Entertainer of the Year, Kenny gave her a very gracious congratulatory kiss on the cheek.

Though Chesney took home no awards, he and Dave Matthews closed out the performances with a fantastic rendition of their top 10 hit “I’m Alive”.

Here’s the list of winners:

  • Entertainer of the Year – Taylor Swift
  • Female Vocalist of the Year – Taylor Swift
  • Male Vocalist of the Year – Brad Paisley
  • New Artists of the Year – Darius Rucker
  • Vocal Group of the Year – Lady Antebellum
  • Vocal Duo of the Year – Sugarland
  • Single of the Year – “I Run To You” by Lady Antebellum
  • Album of the Year – Fearless by Taylor Swift
  • Song of the Year – “In Color” by Jamey Johnson
  • Musical Event of the Year – “Start a Band” by Keith Urban and Brad Paisley
  • Music Video of the Year – “Love Story” by Taylor Swift

I wish Kenny would of won. He really did deserve it. Honestly I liked who all the fans selected to win on the fan poll. I would of at least given the entertainer of the year to brad paisley.

I want to make a comment That when Jamey Johnson got his award word got out about the shooting at Fort Hood,Texas from this man that was with Jamey on stage.I live in Temple,Texas 30 miles from Fort Hood,Texas with my 3 kids.I use to do Housekeeping work to clean 2 Buildings at Fort Hood At the three corps building and the PX building with other crew members back in 1990 up to 1991.When i found out about the shooting at Fort Hood it broke my heart i broke down crying my eyes out.my 3 kids had their schools in lockdowns so that
they would be safe.My thoughts and prayers went out to these soldiers and their families, and i hope this man that did this shooting gets justice for it.

I want to put in one more comment.I wish that kenny chesney could have won his
awards to.I did see kenny with his mother but not Amy Colley.I want to congradulate all the country singers who did win their awards tonight and congradulations to Barbara Mandrell for Hall Of Fame. And i want to congradulate Taylor Swift for getting her awards and now she is the new Entertainer Of the Year this time.Since i have a Birthday coming up on December 12th,I will be turning 47 years old.And Taylor Swift will be turning
20 years old on December 13th.It is nice to know that Taylor Swift has a Birthday the next day from me.That is so cool.My niece will be turning 20 years old on December 15th to.

I really do think that Kenny deserves the Entertainer of the Year award. Taylor Swift is good, but she can’t sing like Kenny does. Just when did they start picking them by popularity? Kenny will always be my favorite. He is the BEST!!!!

  • Ann Alexie

    Kenny can’t win every year.

While I agree that Taylor is very talented, don’t agree that she won entertainer of the year. I saw her in concert with Keith Urban in Boston while she is clearly talented, not even close to Keith or KENNY in the entertainment of year award. There is always next year.

Kenny Chesney will always be the Entertainer Of The Year to me and to everyone, and he will always be the best country singer there is,He will continue to be the king of the road and the king of Summertime.Lets all continue to support kenny chesney for his music, and buying tickets to his shows playing his songs on the radio, ect. Kenny still loves his fans just as much as we all love him. When he returns in 2011,We should all give him a good
welcome Back Kenny Chesney cheer when he gets back on tour.Lets show kenny that we all still love him and how much we still care for him to.

I really liked Kenny and Dave’s performance.
I was really happy for Darius.
I think this may be a changing of the times.
Taylor is everywhere and I actually thought if not Kenny then Keith since he did ‘all for the hall’

  • sosilly

I am guessing since Kenny is not doing a full tour next yr 2010, he won’t be nominated at all.
UNless his album sells well and comes out in time to qualify.
Who knows who Taylor and Carrie will be up against next time

Yes I agree Kenny can’t take it every year. That is a given of course. Wish he would have won this time…but it is ok…still love him. I do have to say…that at the age of 19 and to have won pretty much all of the biggest awards in one night…now what do you have to strive for? Could this Taylor fad fade as quickly as it has become popular???

Kenny you are amazing and it was great to see you and your mom out again at an awards show. See you in 2011!!!

  • countrymusicluvr

I was surprised that Taylor won EOTY award..How does somebody that is still an opening act win Entertainer of the Year?? I think these award shows are becoming popularity contests instead of being based on merits.

    I vote with my wallet.

Kenny is the only one on the Entertainer of the Year list that I paid to see (both Poets & Pirates, as well as Sun City Carnival). I have never seen an entertainer work so hard, have so much fun and make it look so easy all at the same time.

I hope he enjoys his well-deserved break and I look forward to his next album.

    One Love!
