People Magazine reported today that Dave Matthews will join Kenny Chesney at this year’s CMA Awards to sing their duet “I’m Alive”:

Dave Matthews will join country’s biggest names at this year’s CMA Awards, delivering a duet with Kenny Chesney and adding another rock presence to the ceremony’s lineup. Last week, it was announced that Daughtry – along with Vince Gill – would perform on the show, which will air on ABC Wednesday, Nov. 11, 8 p.m. ET.

Matthews, 42, will be making his debut appearance on the awards show, where he will perform “I’m Alive,” a Top 10 country hit from Chesney’s Lucky Old Sun album.

“The 43rd Annual CMA Awards,” hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, airs live from the Sommet Center in Nashville, Wednesday, Nov. 11 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on ABC.

Chesney is nominated three times this year: Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist, and Musical Event with Mac McAnally for “Down The Road”.

Kenny Chesney on Austin City Limits Tonight

If you’ve been missing your Kenny fix for the past few weeks since the tour ended, tonight you are in for a special treat as Kenny Chesney will appear on Austin City Limits.

“I don’t really remember the first time I saw Willie Nelson, he always just was,” said Chesney, “but there’s a part of me that’s pretty certain it was on ‘Austin City Limits,’ because I saw an awful lot of my heroes on that show. You look around – and you realize everyone, from Jerry Lee Lewis to George Jones to Ray Charles right up to now has played here, and you really want to be part of that history.”

Commenting on the set list, Kenny says “those aren’t songs I normally get to do. I like to keep the energy level pretty high, but they’re very much a part of who I am… and it’s funny. ‘Somewhere In The Sun’ is one of only two songs I’ve ever written on the road, and I wrote it not a mile from where we were taping. So in a way, we closed the circle singing it here… because it all started when we were snowed out of our show down here on year.”

Check out the expected set list and watch a preview of the episode here.

For most locations the show will air at 9 pm eastern time on PBS. But be sure to check your local listings.

Update – The show will be available online at video.pbs.org after midnight.

Saints Coach Parachutes In For Chesney Video

According to the Sun Times, New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton recently parachuted into a college football stadium for an upcoming Kenny Chesney video:

There are ways to connect with players or quickly lose a locker room. Earlier this season Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini fined a player $1,700 for grabbing a $3 bottle of water at a hotel without paying for it. Last month Payton parachuted into a Redhawks game at North Central College to shoot a Kenny Chesney music video. (Stine was told the song won’t be released until next summer). Payton also once joked about the Easter bunny — in full costume — keeping up with him during an April road race in New Orleans.

Chesney and Payton have been friends for a long time. Payton let Kenny participate in Saint training camp in ’07 and ’08, though this year the coach jokingly told him to stay away in hopes that it would reverse the Saints fortunes.
