After some fans expressed displeasure on blogs/forums/twitter, etc. about the recent Sugarland concert cancellations, which included Saturday night’s Sun City Carnival Tour stop in San Francisco, Kenny Chesney has issued another statement:

“It was really sad to see the way some people reacted to Jennifer needing to cancel her appearance in San Francisco last weekend — and it seems to me we should all be concerned about her long-term vocal health more than any single show that she may not be able to do.

Naturally, I’m disappointed she’s not out here with us — because she is a friend as well as an act I know the fans enjoy — but I think it’s more important that she have the time to heal properly, rather than forcing herself to try and rush back onstage. I know she’ll be back before the summer and can’t wait to have her back out there. But it’s about doing the right thing and we should all be supporting her in that.”

CMT.com says that Sugarland will not perform at Thursday night’s Salt Lake City show with Chesney.

Kenny is a very gracious man and very understanding. Everyone whom has been disappointed should take a page out of Kennys book. Be understanding of the situations, disappointed or not wish her well and get on with your life. Maybe when Jennifer starts feelin better she will make it up to the fan but until then wish her well and let her rest.
Jennifer, take all the time you need so you dont totally blow your voice. Kenny, thank you for an awesome show at AT&T Park. Cant wait til next year.

Kenny, thanks for standing up for Jennifer. She is awesome and I wouldn’t want anything to happen to her. You are truly a special person to look out for her health and support her. I am so glad that you aren’t rushing her to get back and you are looking out for her health instead of making her take a chance and hurting her voice permanently.
This is why you earn Entertainer of the Year.
Lots of well wishes for Jennifer that she gets better and back on the road with you as soon as she is able.
There are plenty of us fans who enjoyed your show this year with just Lady A and Miranda to open. Sure we missed Sugarland, but I would much rather know that I can still hear her voice down the road than to have her hurt herself long term because a few people are upset that they paid a lot of money to see Sugarland. Jennifer you take all the time you need to get better. We’ll be here waiting to hear you when you are ready.

Now that we know what the issue was, move on people. I applaud Kenny for speaking up in defense of Jennifer. There will be other shows with Sugarland – if Jennifer can be allowed to heal her vocal problems. Come on everyone, where is the compassion?
