The 2009 CMT Music Awards, hosted by Bill Engvall, air live tonight from the Sommet Center in Nashville. Kenny Chesney is not scheduled to perform but is nominated in two categories:

Video of the Year

  • Sugarland – “All I Want To Do”
  • Kid Rock – “All Summer Long”
  • Kenny Chesney w/ the Wailers – “Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven”
  • Rascal Flatts – “Every Day”
  • Toby Keith – “God Love Her”
  • Carrie Underwood – “Just a Dream”
  • Lady Antebellum – “Lookin’ for a Good Time”
  • Taylor Swift – “Love Story”
  • Brad Paisley – “Waitin’ on a Woman”
  • Trace Adkinds – “You’re Gonna Miss This”

Collaborative Video of the Year

  • Brooks & Dunn and Reba McEntire – “Cowgirls Don’t Cry”
  • Kenny Chesney and the Wailers – “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven”
  • Sugarland, Little Big Town, and Jake Owen – “Life in a Northern Town”
  • Brad Paisley and Keith Urban – “Start a Band”

The final nominees for Video Of The Year will be announced at the beginning of the live show and fans can vote at CMT.com and via text on their Verizon Wireless phones throughout the live broadcast (ET/CT only) to determine the night’s big winner.

    The best of luck to Kenny. A country music awards show without Kenny Chesney…won’t be the same. I am just curious as to why is he not scheduled to perform. I agree with sosilly that he probably will not be there but why?
