Ticket prices for this year’s Kenny Chesney show in Jacksonville on August 7th are lower than last year due to the economic downturn:

Tickets for Kenny Chesney’s Aug. 7 concert at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena go on sale Saturday, and they’re going to be a little cheaper than originally announced. The first word was that the tickets would be $99, $69 and $25. But now they’re priced at $79.50, $59.50 and $25.

Promoter Rich Mischell, who’s brought Chesney to town every time he’s been here, said that concerns about the economy made him decide to drop the prices. But keep in mind that Chesney sells out the arena each and every time he comes, and he plays there every year. No one else does that.

This year, he’s got Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum opening the show.

There will be some presales through the fan club and a couple of local radio stations, but Mischell said that least 70 percent of the seats will still be available when tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Saturday through Ticketmaster and the arena box office.

There’s not a lot of the most- and least-expensive seats. Most are in the middle range.

Well, we weren’t given much heads up on the Oprah show taping that we posted about a week ago….it taped today.

Reports are that Kenny sang “Down The Road” and then did a medley into “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems.” After singing he sat down for an interview with Oprah.

Also on the show were Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, and Sugarland. Carrie sang “Just A Dream”, Darius sang “It Won’t Be Like This For Long” and Sugarland closed out with “All I Wanna Do.”

There is no word yet on when the show will air.

Kenneth Arnold Chesney was born to Karen and David Chesney at St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville, TN on March 26th, 1968 and raised in the nearby small town of Luttrell.
