Moving into the number one spot this week is Alan Jackson with “Country Boy.”

Kenny Chesney’s latest single, the duet “Down The Road” with Mac McAnally, took its first backward movement on the charts this week, going from number 10 to number 11 in its 12th week on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart.

Taking over the number one spot this week from Sugarland is Brad Paisley and Keith Urban’s “Start A Band”.

The presales for the two Kenny Chesney Mohegan Sun shows in April end Thursday night at 10 pm eastern time, and tickets go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 am eastern time.

Kenny Chesney is hoping to raise some spirits in a town that has had a rough go for the past few years: Detroit.

Chesney has decided to open up ticket sales for his August 22 show at Detroit’s Ford Field by putting his $20 working people tickets on sale right out of the box.

“I’ve gotta lotta friends who live in and around Detroit,” Chesney says. “You know, you hear how rough it is with factories closing down… the auto business having trouble… and you want to do something. I don’t have any answers, beyond taking people away from the troubles for a few hours… but that’s what I can do, and I wanna make sure the people who need to come out the most can do it.

“When things got so rough last summer, we did a working man’s section for our Nashville show – and the response was so strong, it got everyone in my camp’s attention. Going into Detroit, I figure, there’s a place that needs the relief as much as anywhere… So right out of the box, let’s go ahead and designate that section for the working people who really need that night out… Go ahead and make the tickets twenty bucks, so it’s affordable… and let’em know we’re coming right now… That way, they know we’re paying attention, and our thoughts are with them.”

“I don’t want people not being able to come because they can’t afford a ticket,” Chesney explains. “I’ve been there… and I remember… and I want to know that some ole boy that wants to be a part of this year’s show can. So, no matter who you are, I’m hoping we made that possible.”

Make that two Grammy firsts for Kenny Chesney this year. He’s already been nominated for his first ever Grammy in the Best Country Collaboration category for “Shiftwork” with George Strait, and now it’s been announced that Chesney will be a performer at the 51st annual awards shows in February.
