Chalk up another award for Kenny Chesney: Country Airplay’s Country Artist Of The Year.

“We make this music for the people,” says Chesney, “and being recognized by Country Airplay says these new songs are still songs the fans want to sing along with us. After all, that’s what music always was to me: my life set to music… and when we go play across the country, well, you hear the fans singing these songs back to you – and you know they’re living the words and music every bit as much as we have.”

Having spent 25% of 2007 at#1 on the charts, Chesney continued his run of multiple #1 weeks with “Better As A Memory” and his all-genre Top 200 Albums #1 debut Lucky Old Sun’s “Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven” with “Down The Road” rising up the charts, the man who just sold out Boston’s Gillette NFL Stadium for the fifth straight year in a staggering 10 minutes seems poised to continue being the soundtrack of people’s lives well into the coming year.
