The home of the Cleveland Browns played host to Kenny Chesney and his Poets and Pirates Tour on Saturday night. The 45,000 fans in attendance were treated to opening performances by LeAnn Rimes, Gary Allan, Sammy Hagar, and Keith Urban. Also, Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland made a surprise appearance, singing “Stay” with Chesney.

Cleveland.com has a review of the show:

Browns fans attended a seasons worth of home games this past year, and walked away with wins (mostly) and no floods.

Browns Stadium had the same fortune Saturday, with a winning lineup of country stars (and one rock-n-roll interloper) as the Kenny Chesney Poets and Pirates Tour returned to the scene of last summers soggy stadium breakdown.

Chesney is the reigning Academy of Country Music entertainer of the year, for good reason. Hes not the reigning male vocalist of the year, for equally good reason.

Not since Garth Brooks launched his self-imposed hiatus has country seen an artist as vibrant and exciting onstage as Chesney.

But his thin voice suffers from a limited range. Fortunately, hes wise enough to tailor his songs to hide that weakness, and his concert to exploit his showmanship. He rolled through his many hits, like “Young,” “Back Where I Come From” and his new one, “Shift Work,” delivering charisma if not perfect pitch. He will sell out this city as long as he wants to make his way back to Cleveland.

Keith Urban was part of a quartet of opening acts that included chanteuse LeAnn Rimes, California crooner Gary Allan and hair-metal rocker Sammy Hagar. Quick, what doesnt fit in this picture? Heres a hint: You dont have to drive 55 to get to the right answer.

A surprise appearance by Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, who sang her other woman paean, “Stay,” gave the evening a special bent. But the biggest shock was Chesneys dead-on harmonies to accompany her. Where was that pitch control the rest of the night?
